I first started playing golf when I was about 9 years old, and ever since the spring I hit my first bucket of balls I have looked forward to the golf season throughout every winter. It is a great sport as it allows you to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
The fresh air never hurt anyone
There is no comparison to the smell of freshly cut grass, and the morning dew of an 8:30 a.m tee off. Playing golf is a literal breath of fresh air, hearing the birds, seeing the vivid green grass and feeling that great sensation of making contact with the ball is something golfers can never get over.
No need to be in shape
Golf is a sport played by children that still haven’t lost all of their teeth, all the way to overweight, out of shape seniors. Men and Women of all ages can enjoy the game, the only physical asset you need to play is a pair of working arms and legs. In addition, for those who choose to walk 18 holes, golf can be a good way to get some steps in and keep your body moving. Lastly, you won’t wake up in the morning after a round feeling like you’ve been hit by a bus, just be sure to briefly stretch beforehand.
You don’t need a loan to start playing
A common misconception about playing golf is that you need to have a loaded bank account to get into the sport. This is entirely false, you can rent clubs and get a large bucket of range balls for less than 15 dollars. For those who choose to pursue the sport after going to the range a handful of times can purchase a set of used clubs for a minimal cost. Loading up on balls is cheap as well, many sporting/golf stores sell these big bags of 46 used golf balls for less than 30 dollars. This should last anyone for at least an entire season. As far as green fees go, the cost can be anywhere from 10 – 80 dollars for a round, however many golf courses have websites that offer last minute deals.
Although many may argue they would rather watch paint dry than the PGA tour, golf is no doubt an absolutely terrific sport. Golf is definitely worth a shot, and I can bet that shot will be a hole in one!
